Our courses and trainers, your office. If you want to train several staff members at once, in-house training can be a cost-effective solution. We can also adapt our training material to your organisation and its specific needs. Our in-house training for NGOs brings the same practical, hands-on workshops we run in Brussels directly to your team, built around your projects, your audiences and your way of working.
If you need a more consultative approach, our trainers can coach course participants individually or in small groups for a few hours or a few days. Call us on +32 2 403 49 83 or email [email protected] to discuss your needs.
Why choose in-house training for NGOs?
Open courses are an excellent way for individuals to build their skills and meet peers from other organisations. But when several people in the same team need the same capability, bringing the training to you often makes more sense.
- Cost-effective for groups. A single training day for your team can cost less than sending the same number of people to an open course, and saves on travel time.
- Tailored content. We can adapt the material to your organisation, so that exercises reflect your real projects, campaigns and challenges rather than generic examples.
- A shared language. When a whole team learns the same tools together, it becomes much easier to apply them consistently afterwards.
- Confidential discussion. Your team can talk openly about internal issues, live projects and sensitive communication challenges without outsiders in the room.
- Flexible scheduling. You choose a date that fits your organisation’s calendar and workload.
Which courses can be delivered in-house?
All our courses are available in-house:
- Project Management Fundamentals: defining projects and objectives, project planning, proactive risk planning and avoiding pitfalls
- Advanced Project Management Tools & Techniques: estimating, Critical Path Analysis, tracking, change requests, risk and resource optimisation
- Mastering Public Relations: PR planning, stakeholders, ethics, social media, media relations and writing
- Mastering Marketing: positioning, audience segmentation, campaigns, digital channels, fundraising communications and measuring results
We can also combine elements from different courses, for example a day that brings together PR planning and campaign marketing for a communication team, or a session focused specifically on risk management for a programme department.
How it works
1. Needs analysis
We start with a conversation about your organisation, the team you want to train and what you want to achieve. What are the current challenges? What level of experience do participants have? Which projects, campaigns or situations should the training address? Where useful, we can ask participants to complete a short pre-course questionnaire so that the content reflects their real needs.
2. Tailoring
Based on the needs analysis, we adapt the training material to your organisation. This might mean building exercises around your current projects, using your own templates and terminology, adjusting the balance between topics, or aligning the content with frameworks you already use, such as the Logical Framework Approach or your donors’ reporting requirements. We share the proposed agenda with you before the training so you can comment on it.
3. Delivery
Our trainer delivers a practical, hands-on workshop at your office. As in our open courses, the emphasis is on doing rather than listening: participants work through real-life examples and apply the tools directly to their own work. Each participant receives the training materials to keep.
4. Follow-up
Learning really pays off when it is applied. After the training we can help you plan how the new tools will be used in practice, and, if you wish, provide follow-up coaching for individuals or small groups as they apply what they have learned to live projects. See our 1:1 and small-group coaching for details.

Logistics
For an in-house training day, you provide a room large enough for the group to work comfortably in small teams, with tables, a screen or projector and a flipchart or whiteboard if possible. We bring the trainer and the training materials. Catering is usually arranged by your organisation, which means you can keep it simple or turn the day into a team event.
The standard In-House Team Training Day is designed for up to 12 participants, which keeps the session interactive and gives everyone the chance to contribute. If you would like to train a larger group, we will discuss options with you, such as splitting it into two sessions.
Planning tip: Choose a date when participants can be fully present. In-house training works best when people are not called out of the room for urgent tasks, so it can help to schedule it away from major deadlines and reporting periods.
